Days Go By

November 6, 2007 at 8:33 am (Uncategorized)

This past weekend I had a break between classes and had an appointment at David’s Bridal in Grand Rapids to try on wedding dresses. The first time I went I narrowed the choices down to three. So Saturday was all about trying those dresses on again and making a final decision. At first it was a hard decision because i love them all and they all looked pretty good on me. But then I thought about what dress would look good with the bridesmaids dresses that I had all ready picked out, color and all. From there, the choice was easy. So I now have my wedding dress picked out, plus a veil to go with it. So I got a big decision accomplished.

Now I’m working my way into mental health and will be going to Bay Med for the clinical rotation. I’m a little nervous, but who wouldn’t be going into mental health. I made my way through the other two classes, I should be fine. This first week is more of a orientation week than anything else. Then the next week we do a care plan.

I’m ready for Thanksgiving. It looks like I’ll have school stuff to work on over the break but it shouldn’t be a huge problem. Daniel is coming to visit me for Thanksgiving! I’m very excited. We’ll be able to get some wedding plans accomplished. That’s always a good thing. A couple of appointments are made for us to go to during that week. I need to make a couple more, involving the florist and the wedding cake. Then things will really be getting done. It’s a good idea to have most accomplished before my winter semester starts. I know i won’t have any time to plan during that semester. It’s a biggy, NUR 240. Which by the way I just registered for today. I’ll be doing that rotation in Midland, which I think is a smart move. During the winter roads can get ugly and dangerous and I personally would not enjoy driving to Bay City or Saginaw at 4 am trying to make my way through a blizzard or drive on icy roads. So Midland is a good choice. I’ll still have to go to Delta for the theory portion but that’s not a big deal.

That’s all for now, more will come later.

Time for an Update

October 28, 2007 at 8:41 pm (Uncategorized)

So I feel like writing some things down tonight as I sit here thinking about how i love ice cream so much and how it is an awesome cure for when you feel like crap. Since the last time I wrote I was in Pediatrics, well that’s all done, passed it and now I’m just finishing up in Maternity, which I’m praying that I can pass. My first exam in that class was very bad and hurt me, but than as I kept taking the exams I gradually did better so I have enough to pass at the moment, it’s just a matter of doing well on the final and not getting a 72% like i did on the pediatric final. Daniel visited me this weekend and that was really nice. Yesterday was a relaxing day of watching the football game and a lot of The Office. Also we ate a lot of good food. Ruby Tuesday for lunch and Red Lobster for dinner and Chinese buffet for Sunday lunch after church. I will not be suprised to see that I gained 10 lbs the next time I step on a scale….maybe i should just wait a few days and get back to my regular eating and do some jogging before doing that. This week is my last week of maternity. I’ve got clinical Monday and Tuesday and then a final on Friday. My plan for that weekend after maternity is officially over is to go to Grand Rapids and finalize my decision for a wedding dress. I’ve got the choices narrowed down, know comes the part of deciding on the perfect one. That might take a while. I’m glad though that I have the bridesmaids dresses down. Cause if I didn’t, I think that would take me forever to decide. I was lucky on finding something good pretty quickly. So I’ll go through what me and Daniel have done and have checked off our list of things to do:

Place to get married is Midland Reformed Church with Paster Mike DeRuyter doing the ceremony. Reception will be held at Horizon’s Conference Center in Saginaw. Photographer will be Harbour Light Photography. DJ will be Aaron Dicer “Dice” from 101.7 the Fuse. We have our bridal party down, guest list is getting finalized, and our honeymoon has been booked. Still a lot to be done, but I say we are getting there at a good pace.

So after watching several episodes of the Office with Daniel, I’m beginning to understand the show more. It takes time getting use to really. It’s a lot different than most shows you will see on NBC. But it’s funny and has a great cast. I’m still saying scrubs will have to be my favorite though.

That’s pretty much it right now.

It’s been awhile

September 4, 2007 at 10:03 am (Uncategorized)

It’s has been quite some time since i have last posted. I’ve been busy. School started up again and I’m in my 2nd semester of clinicals at Delta College. So far, i have learned quite a bit in nursing school and I’m glad I was able to practice skills over the summer working as an Student Nurse Technician over at the Veteran’s Hopsital in Saginaw. I had to resign from my position due to school. I’ll miss working there but possibly next summer i’ll go back if other opportunities aren’t available. I may get a job working in the pediatric field but I’m not certain on anything yet. Well, next year by now i should be married. It’s hard to believe, and it’s a little scary to think about. I want to get married, I’m just not sure on if I’m prepared to be living on my own. Knowing that Daniel will be by my side through it all is comforting though. Right now I’m working through my first class, NUR 116 Pediatrics. I’m getting the vibe that it won’t be as stressful and as complicated as NUR 101A and NUR101B were. I’m still scared cause it is a new experience. Working with children instead of the elderly is a whole new world. Less medications and labs to worry about and that is wonderful!!!

This past week Daniel came and visited me for about a week after he visited his family for a week in Kansas City, Missouri. I had a wonderful time with him. Most of the week was just hanging around the house in Midland, going out on occasion. Over the weekend though we went up to the cottage for the night on Friday and then spent Saturday on the boat on Torch and Elk Lake. It was fun, but maybe a bit too long in the sun. Then sunday Daniel went back to da UP. He was ready to go back, I could tell.

LOVE

August 1, 2007 at 8:48 pm (Uncategorized)

My brother Mike and his fiance’ Amy got married last Saturday. The wedding was beautiful and the reception was a blast. I knew i would have a lot of fun and I most certainly did. Daniel came to Midland on Thursday night. I’m so happy he was able to come for the weekend. I missed him and i still miss him since he left Sunday. Anyway, loved the whole wedding. The happy couple is currently spending time in Hawaii for their honeymoon. My schedule this week is work for 4 days, and then have three days off for girls weekend at the cottage!!! I LOVE GIRLS WEEKEND!!! It’s always fun, this will be our third annual. Now that my brother’s wedding is all done and out of the way, it’s that time for me to get into more detail with my wedding. At the moment it’s kinda at a halt with the planning. Daniel doesn’t know exactly for sure if he can graduate on time. It’s a scary situation that we will have to face. I don’t know what’s going to happen, all I can do right now is pray that God’s will is done and that everything will work out in time. I’m ready to move out of the house, I’m just not financially ready. Daniel and I have been together since freshman year of high school, that’s a long time i think. We are ready to get married. Again, financially, it’s a different story. Anyway, I couldn’t be more happier with him and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him. Looking on, I see a lot of stress, but we’ll get through it.

Beware of the stare of Mary Shaw

She had no children, only dolls

And if you see her, do not scream

Or she”ll rip your tongue out at the scene.

Works Work

June 18, 2007 at 9:14 pm (Uncategorized)

So I’ve been busy lately. This week I’m continuing my training over at the VA and shadowing the different areas of the hospital. It gets tiring sometimes. Today just wasn’t a good day for me feeling good wise. I just felt a lot of pressure in my head and wasn’t feeling 100%. I also have a really sore neck, which might be from tubing this past weekend. For father’s day we went up north to the cottage. It was very relaxing and i was able to fish. I caught four fish total, three bass and one little perch. So this summer will be a summer of work. I’ll be working my job about 4 times a week maybe 5. I’ll also try to squeeze in some wedding planning if possible. Other than that, I’ll be reading from my med surg text and relaxing as much as possible. That’s for now.,

This Weekend

June 10, 2007 at 5:51 pm (Uncategorized)

It was a pretty active weekend for me. Thursday night me, andrew, and alexa hung out at the coffee shop and walked around downtown and chatted for a couple of hours. Friday, Andrew brought Felicia to Midland from Lansing and she stayed at my house for two nights. Friday night we all went to see Josh Hahn race at Dixie Motor Speedway and also saw other cool races, including a really cool figure 8 race that was just insane to watch! Saturday just chilled at the house while Felicia and Andrew hung out together. Sunday was Meg Bakke’s graduation party over at Plymouth Park. It was very nice. And now I’m at home, just laying around doing nothing special. Tomorrow I start orientation over at the VA hospital. A little nervous but not too bad. I’m just really happy I have a job for the summer. I need to start saving more. Also gas is a pain. Daniel and I came to an agreement for a wedding date. The wedding will be held on July 26th, 2008!!! More details will come as the time moves on. Right now I’m counting down the days until my birthday, June 29. What’s so special about it is that Daniel will be coming down to see me for the weekend. I’m so happy about that!! That itself is a wonderful birthday gift. In one month, my brother Mike will get married. I’m excited about that too. I’m a bridesmaid in the wedding. The only scary thing is, I’m wondering if i’ll make it down the isle with the shoes i have to wear, they are pretty and all, but a little difficult to walk in. I’m going to have to practice. I would hate to fall over. That’s all for now.
